My HP 1510 scanner printer has started to play up, well continued to play up, so I think I will have to get another,
Any suggestion please as to a good make/model,of combined scanner printer particularly as regards ink cost, I print out a lot of stuff,[author] so use a fair bit, ink for the HP is expensive,I have tried refilling but it doesnt like refilled colour cartridges

go for epson, i think a dx5100? cheap ink refils (cost £2 each) and they work perfectly. Costs just over £50-60.0

Check out places like Argos web site.
They sometimes have a half descent offers for Printers..
I got a Olivetti Any_Way Photo wireless Plus (Wireless/Bluetooth/Photoprinter/Scanner job) for £40 in Argos.
Ink is £25 a go though...Laters

thanks, I need to be able to scan to a good quality, I am not fazed about colour printing of photos.
I am scanning old postcards into a web album/dvd; and I print out more black and white text than things needing colour print.
I do print a lot of text.
I would rather pay more for a printer than buy a cheap printer thats 25 £ a shot for a refill!!!!!!!!!!
Must be a combined scanner printer tho; suitable for OCR which I need a lot.
thanks0 -
what about the

We rate the Canon MP610 as the best overall all in one around at the moment, great quality prints, good scanning and good value, read Simon Williams review here http://www.trustedreviews.com/printers/review/2007/09/21/Canon-PIXMA-MP610/p1
Simon reckons it is the best overall printer around at the moment0 -
If it must be a combined unit you will pay the price. Scanners seem to last but printers are not so.
My canon uses cli-8 carts which are a doddle to refill-I simply don't think about the cost of printing.0 -
spakkker>> How do you re-fill the cli-8 cartridges? Is it an easy process? Where do you get the ink from?
Cheers

The "dx5100" is an HP model, isn't it? Is it that model you recommend, or an Epsom?
Thanks
