Hi,
I hope someone can give me a bit of advice. I have upvc windows and as the weather is so hot have tried to open them all, however quite a few of them are stuck! This has never happened before and I don't know what to do for
the best as I don't want to damage the window or the seal. Any advice would be gratefully received as myself and my 2 boys are sweltering!!

The metal catches will have expanded in the heat, the only solution is to wait until the sun go's down. Don't try to force the window as you will only damage it. When you get the window open try to file a small amount from the metal where it is sticking.0

Never had this problem with my UPVC DG, and one side of my house gets the sun all afternoon at this time of the year. Surely it's just a case of the seals stuck to the UPVC frames??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Maybe a squirt of WD40 would help - the hinges do need a bit of lubrication from time to time.
Easier if you have the little red pipe it's sold with - get into the nooks and crannies well.
Spray, leave to work for a few minutes before gently attempting to open window further. Don't try to force it or you might bend something you don't want to bend!!:wave:0 -
Thanks for your replies. The problem seems to be the seal, it's loose at the top but stuck fast at the bottom, what can I put on the seal without ruining it?
Thanks:beer:0 -
When the seals are fitted at the factory, they are lubricated to stop them sticking to the window. The lubrication dries out under the suns rays. You will have to open the window and if intact, lubricate the seals. If the seals get damaged, they can easily be replaced.Seals are readily available.0

Oil, something to hand with silicon in it would be ok. Silicon has good non-stick properties, look in the cupboard at your furniture cleaners, car polish ? ? ?0
