So your wanting EDF to restock your girlfriends fridge and freezer and buy her an xbox 360?
i think that a measly £50 for 60 pluss hours with no electric that obveiously ruined her freezer contents then the next hassle of the 3 red rings that was probably 99% due to the fact of the second power cut is pathetic
i would be contacting them back and asking for more
if you get no joy i would be inclined to write to someone higher up in the company
i once lost my power suply and phoned the emergancy helpline was assured soeone would be out within the next few hours as i had a then 1 and newborn and no one even showed i was compensated more than £500 -
"AFAIK 3 red rings is the end of an xbox - no repair possible - but I could be wrong."
three red rings is reparible but you are never sure how long it will last sometimes its a temporary fix other times your box can go on fine0 -
When you get five rings, one blue, a green a black a red and a yellow.....and it happens in 2012 you know London's in real trouble.0

Regarding the recent power cut in Dartford last week, there is a full page article in this weeks local newsshopper, apologising for the power cut.
It states that EDF will be writing to everybody who was affected during this time in the next 7 days ......... me included !!!!0 -
3 red rings are repairable. Just ring microsoft who dont seem to have a problem if it is in warranty or not as mine wasnt when it happened to me. They have admitted fault to this problem.
I totally agree that people should be getting more than £50. SOme people were fixed within a few hours and other got a generator supplying power the next day, but an unlucky few got nothing for over 60 hours which is unacceptable. The generator was obviously not secure enough if it was apparently vandalised by kids. This is a major generator that supplies 4 towns and again apparently some kinds broke the look and managed to vandalise the whole thing.
I live in the area and know that the bridge in question was not maintained and has two gates closing the area....imho this was not good enough. £50 is a joke!0 -
If the loss of power had not been due to a criminal act presumably EDF would have been pushed into offering a larger compensation package?
Although we had only very little supply in Northumberland Heath during those three days, we are entitled to nothing according to EDF.
I would like to know whether the regulator has teeth on an issue like this: it's just not good enough to leave key bottlenecks vulnerable like this. Presumably as things stand all it would take would be about 10 people with bolt cutters to switch off the supply to the whole of London if key sites were entered?
And how long to get the supply reconnected if it had been Kensington, or Wimbledon, or Chelsea. Areas well populated with MPs, barristers etc
And why wasn't the grid acting like a grid i.e. alternative supplies should be available?0 -
Exactly....this was meant to be kids! To me it sounds pretty easy to bring quite a few places to a stand still....what are they really doing about this.
The only reason EDF are paying £50 is because the regulator states they have to!0 -
I know its an old posting, but same thing happened again in South London again, from 3pm-1am 2 sick kids with temp & chicken pox & edf were an absolute joke to deal with
, weird thing across the road they were all toasty, app only 100 houses on my side of the road effected how bizarre!
No one said it was gonna be easy!0 -
NEW issue
Hi All,
after receiving the (good well) £50 last year compensating my loss of over £1400 + suffering with our 2 kids for more than 3 days, i have just received another letter from EDF stating another GOOD WELL payment of £25 pounds for each further 12hrs at and after 2am on Wednesday 22 July 2009.
to be honest, i don’t believe in the GOOD WELL payment anymore and i thing there is a bigger issue behind it. there must be a court case against them or Ofgem are trying to help suffered customers.
i will not claim anything from them and wait until i have checked with Ofgem or contact a solicitor about this issue
if any one knows what is the current situation of EDF or know if there is a court case against them, please do reply to this and let everyone know about it so we could claim the proper compensation not a petty Good well peanuts.
Thank you0 -
How did you lose £1400 as a result of a power cut?
If there's so much riding on you having a 100% stable supply may I suggest backup generation?
You're going to get absolutely nowhere.0
