Thinking about laminate flooring for my bathroom and hall and I realise for these areas I will need hardwearing and water resistant but any other tips
users can give me?
How easy is it to keep clean in hallways and do you need something under the door mat to keep it still.

I just laid some for the hallway this weekend. Yes you need hardwearing for the hallway not sure about the bathroom, wondering if you can get water resistant type.
For the hallway I bought some thick (greenish) looks like compressed paper underlay for a concrete floor. Then laid very light coloured laminate flooring which I got from B&Q at £22 per pack.
Laminate is easy to clean just sweap with a special floor sweeper I got from a pound shop which you attach papper tissues with there quite strong. Occasional I wipe the floor with those wet wipes you can buy for about a £1. They can take a small amount of wetness provided it drys quickly.
Almost forgot when I laid the flooring, I got some quadrant to go around the edges and take that into the skirting boards and punched the nails in so as to not be seen and filled with filler. You must leave a small gap between the laminate and the skirting to allow for expansion I just used the cardboard that came with the laminate and tuck that between the laminate and skirting temporary.0 -

You do - Ikea sell stuff called "Patrull" in the rugs section - the cheapest I've found of the non-slip stuff and very good at stopping the slipping too (less than a fiver for about 3 acres of the stuff(ok it's not 3 acres, but you'll have spare for the next rug you buy etc.)

In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
B&Q do laminate for bathrooms, they also do it in tile form, so it looks like tiles but is as easy to lay as normal laminate, ie clicks together. They have all sorts of styles, some available in store, some you have to do a special order.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

HI,
its not really necessary to get waterproof laminate such as aqua loc from BandQ for bathrooms. You can quite easily choose any other type of laminate.....as long as you take extra precautions!
Again quickstep is ideal for most situations and you can install in a bathroom....ok, so the manufacturer wont guarantee it when laid in there, but thats not to say it cant be. You can waterproof the joins by using pva and 'glueing' the floor or alternatively you can now buy a product called 'clicseal' from floors2go, which you squeeze onto the joins, click the floor together. The excess squeezes out, allow to dry (5 mins?) and then wipe off. This leaves you with a waterproof seal. I use this method a lot now in bathrooms because I dont like bQ's aqualoc....cheaper to buy quickstep and 'waterproof' it.
As for hallways with a lot of traffic, best to get an 8mm or 9.5mm floor.0
