DVD Players

My son bought me a DVD player from Aria mail order. It worked perfectly for 6 months then stopped working. The counter was going round on the player, but the picture wasn't feeding through to the TV to which it was attached. I swapped the Scart connector and it still didn't work. I returned it to Aria (who resolutely refused to communicate with me, instead sending all emails to my son, who had to forward them to me). They tested and finally came back to me, weeks later, saying that it was working perfectly. They asked whether I had tried changing the Scart connector, and I replied that I had swapped for one which worked perfectly with my Video player. Several weeks later, having heard nothing, I contacted them again. The referred me to the customer service desk. My player has now been returned to me and it still doesn't work. Has anyone any ideas why? I'm not inclined to use Aria again as they have been less than helpful, and it cost me return postage on a machine which still doesn't work as it should.
