  • Hi,
you should be able to connect the PS3 to most Home Cinema systems depending on inputs available on the Home Cinema. Not got my PS3 manual with me at present but I will try to dig it out and post later this evening what you will need to check on the Home Cinema and what cable's if any you should need to buy....

Although if you need a quicker answer then I would suggest going to www.avforums.com and asking on their..

  • I'm not a fan of Samsung all-in-one systems so wouldn't recommend one as they mostly sound like 'noise' to me. You don't need a built-in DVD player (unless it's multi-region) as the PS3 is more than up to the job for DVD playback as well as bluray. If you want a good system for the PS3, I would look at the Sonys and in particular something like the Sony HT-SF1300 which will give you HD audio formats from the PS3. It's a bit more than your budget though.

To get surround from the PS3 you need an digital optical connection. This will get you Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS. The PS3 can output DD5.1 and DTS over HDMI as well but HDMI audio means more money! However, the PS3 can also output multi-channel HD audio (the latest lossless formats) as something called LPCM over the HDMI connection. The Sony HT-SF1300 is the cheapest surround sound system that can achieve it.

I'm pretty sure that Samsung HT-35X, doesn't have an optical input. Use sites like pricerunner to compare the price and if you click on the product information tab, it should give you a list of connections. The HT-TZ212R has an optical input though.

The only cables you will need to buy if you go for such a package would be an optical cable (a cheap one will do. Check audiovisualonline or tvcables as both stock cheap ones). The speaker cables and so on will be included. It's only when you go down the separates route that you need to buy additional cables.
