Incapacity Benefit stopped

My friend is very ill, lots of problems. She was called for a medical but on the day were to ill to attend. Following this they were sent a form to fill in explaining why they could not attend. The form was returned and a few days later she phoned the DWP to confirm the form had been received, it had been.
Today she has received a letter stating Incapacity benefit has stopped, due to them (the DWP) not having received the last letter. They have phoned the DWP and they are addament the letter has not been received. But they are now sending forms so an appeal can be lodged.
Is there any advise I can pass on to her, what to do where to go?
She was in receipt of IB, IS and DLA middle rates. This will put her over the edge again I know, she lives some 300 miles from me.
Thanks

Her DLA will remain in place, and (assuming she has no other income) she will be able to claim a reduced rate of IS whilst appealing.
Did she send the letter Recorded Delivery, or at least get proof of posting? Did she get the name of the person that confirmed that they had received the letter, or could she at least prove that the conversation happened?Gone ... or have I?0 -
That's disgusting and all too typical of the benefits system.
It appears designed to cause people as much aniexty as possible.0
