How to replace threshold strip???

Our lovely, 'slowly falling to pieces gotta do something about it' home has a very leaky front door when it rains hard. It looks like the weather/threshold strip has had it. Can anyone tell me how to replace it or if this is one job where I should call in the professionals?

And if there are any such professionals reading or lurking here, would they be kind enough to give me some idea as to how much I should expect to pay?

Thanks!

Front door entrance liners are almost allways installed as a complete unit.

The side jambs are normally rebated/morticed into the weather bar so they normally have to replace the frame . I dont think it is really worth trying to bodge or half fix these types of problems as they will only lead to further problems.

Unfortunetly you might just have to bite the bullet on this occasion.

    Good luck.

    Hi Swake,

That is bum news to hear...it would make sense tho as I couldn't see any obvious way to detach the strip.

Would you have any idea (roughly) how much labour and materials this would be likely to cost? Sorry to bother you, but i've really no idea!

    Many thanks...

If you check www.screwfix.co.uk put THRESHOLD in their search box & you'll see quite a few alternatives to replacing the entire frame.

Assuming you can get the old leaky one off, without too much damage.
