Yes most computers have a COM port, basically its looking for the phone on the COM port instead of via USB. I presume there is a way to change this in the settings of the software you are using.0

thanks for that, do you think the software would be to do with the phone or the pc??a please & thank you is all it takes :wave:0

Did you install any software for the phone?
if so load that up and check the connections options. It should have a drop down box somewhere where you can tell it how you're planning on connecting the phone.0 -
It's the phone software - if I remember correctly you need to select the COM port with an asterisk next to it in the pull down menu - been ages since I've used it, but that seems to ring a bell - it's on the old mothballed PC, so cannot check it presently

Ain't that the idea? Most phones do. LOL :rotfl:

The software for the phone probably created a virtual COM port for the USB cable to the phone. However, in the phone synchronization settings it is probably set to use COM 1 or COM 2, so this needs to be changed.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

When connnecting your phone to your computer. You need to have your phone in standby mode i.e. the screen you get when you turn your phone on or when you're not doing anything on your phone.0
