Can you make a vista password reset disk on an XP system?

Hi, My brothers son has passworded their new laptop that is on vista home basic and it only had the one admin account. He says he cannot remember what he did so we are now stuck. HE hasnt got an installation disk and would prefer to bypass the password. I have had a look into it for him and found that you can reset it using a vista password reset disk. However we are in cache 22 as we cannot get into windows to make one!!!!. I am writing this on an XP desktop is it possible to make a Vista passsword reset disk on the desktop system at all???

    I have not tried this on VISTA but yesterday I was playing around with this on an XP machine and it found the testing password I tried in 1 min.

    http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

    Select live CD and then ophcrack-vista-livecd-2.0.iso

    There are also programs to let you delete the password and later set a new one but again I have not tried it on VISTA.

    You should be able to reinstall vista , you will hit shift + a certain F key depending on the make of laptop and choose reinstall from the list
