Important Money Saving for National Express East Anglia
Options
hi all
just thought I would let everybody know about how to get one of the cheaper tickets.
On friday this week I was due to see friends in London for a night out. as usual I didnt have the oppertunity to book those elusive cheap tickets weeks in hand as this was a last minute thing.
Anyway I looked at the website to see what sort of prices I would be able to go from Norwich to London for and from what I saw it was looking pretty grim look i.e the cheapest was at £41.00 upwards.
I searched and searched for those cheap tickets on the website but gave up hope on the wednesday night thinking I was going to have to pay top whack for my train tickets when I descided to call the ticket booking line, instead I found out that the cheap tickets were still there up until 6pm the day before travel providing I booked before 6pm.
I managed to get a cheap ticket but maybe not the cheapest as I think they only have those really cheap tickets for the services not on peak times but at £12 one way I manged to travel on the 16.30 service from norwich to london and returned on saturday on the 11.08 service all for £24.00 in total saving me at least £20+ on my travel . these tickets came with conditions e.g on travel on the services I was booked on.
so always give the booking line a ring as the rail company's are sneaky taking off the really cheap fares like mine to coax you into paying top money for your train ticket.

They are also really helpful if you ask about seat seservation - you can specify specific seats and they have seating plans available. You cant do that on the net.Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

Thats a good idea spooky - we use National Express East Anglia too, but mostly from Clacton and they don't do the cheap seats on that line! Have been able to get a £6 each way cheap ticket from clacton to norwich online the other day, but going anywhere else other than Norwich you can't get the cheap seats0

hi sammy
I can understand where you are coming from with the ticket problems that you are having , I understand clacton is almost classed as a branch line very much like the local bittern line in which I travel on to Norwich.
there is also another way in which you could try and save money , this is by splitting the tickets e.g two singles or a cheap mainline ticket and then your regular fare to clacton off of a mainline station I know it may not be the cheapest but it may proove to be more slightly cost effective for you if you are shrt on time.
all the best
