so when you get a new battery it needs charging? how long do they need to be charged for?

i let my son use it for about 20 mins, without me charging it, hope that hasn't abused the lifespan of this battery
    usually about 12-14 hours

as long as you did not completely flatten it, it should be ok.

Dragging this one back up .... have you thrown your old battery away ? This thread made me think about the electric car and that it hadn't been used for a while. The battery was at 3 volts and the charger light came on straight away and stayed on. Kept it on charge for 2 days on and off and kept checking the voltage. It slowly crept up to 6.5 volts and then the light went out and after a few hours it slowly came back on. The battery is fine now so if you havn't already binned it give it a go.

this has been a great thread - we are just clearing out our garage and have a big barbie ride in car and a double seated grey 4x4 type ride on. Both were going in the trailer to the skip tomorrow - but had 2nd thoughts now and will give your advice a go - thanks again, will let you know the results.
