Choice of car

I am looking to buy my first car. I am looking for a small (not overly small though!) and cute car (not brand new). I have considered the following manufacturers; Vauxhall, Toyota, Peugeot, Volkwagen and Ford. I have been advised against a vauxhall (wanted a corsa) and peugeot (wanted a 206 or 306).

Now I am looking towards a Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Golf or Polo (someone recently mentioned a skoda fabia) and a Ford Fiesta. I really like the Yaris of all of the above(generally, I do like toyotas).

I am open to advice on any other cars and the ones I have mentioned, I want to consider all the options, on the basis of economy, efficiency, effectiveness and attractiveness.
I am looking to spend less than £3000, could spend a little more, if it will be value for money.

Thanks

I would suggest that the Fiesta would be a good buy but I may be slightly biased!! - You have a pm.

With your budget a Nissan Micra would serve you very well.

Don't discount the Renault Clio till you've tried one

It is or course personnel choice in the area you are looking at, they all do the job.:money:

PS can't understand why you have been advised against the VX or the Pugeot??
    Make up your own mind.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

There are so many decent choices here it's hard to advise.
Something Japanese and Skoda generally best for reliability though there are few real dogs out there. A Skoda Fabia holds it's value well so would cost you less than the most of the others in the long run even if it is a little more expensive on purchase price.

A yaris will be a good choice although they do tend to cost more than the equivalent ford and vauxhall etc. My neice and another person I know has a yaris and they are very good cars, as u really like the yaris then go for it.

I think a test drive of a Yaris and a Fabia might be in order.
If after that you still ike the Yaris best that is the one to go for. No point in spending good money on a car you don't like. Your probably looking at the Yaris loosing £100-£200 a year more a year in depreciation, but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper to service and the engines are better and more economical so will probably even out on costs.

If it was me buying I'd probably go for the Yaris as it's better looking and has better more economical engines which is what would appeal to me.

Thanks guys for all the input,
i was advised against the Vauxhall and Peugoet because of their resale value (depreciates quickly),

was wondering, anyone knows much about ford fiestas and toyota corollas. Economy? Depreciating rate and all.

Will also start looking into renault clios
Apart from autotrader, any other good used car sale website?
