I've never understood it myself but a lot of BR's have trouble opening savings accounts.

It seems a bit stupid doesn't it, bankrupts who are prepared to try and get back to normal and try to save up, for things like MOT/Tax etc are penalised by banks, and they are not asking for any credit only a savings account! Is it that the banks do not want to pay interest on these accounts to bankrupts, otherwise I just do not get it at all. Some Days are Diamonds Some Days are Stones,Sometimes the hard times won't leave meBSC 162:beer:Banktupt 22 Oct 2008 at 10am!0

Just wondering did you have Nationwide flex (basic cash card) account when you filed BR??
I would love to keep my account as use internet banking to keep track.BSC No: 186 There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Unless someone's nicked the candle !

Nationwide are not the most Br freindly of banks so more than likely soon as they hear of your BR they'll close the account.......the co-op cashminder acc has internet banking as well thoughWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

I got the account after I was declared bankrupt, but that was in May last year and as far as I know it it not possible any more to get an account with them.
I wasn't aware at all that it is so diffcult to open a savings account! !
I guess I was lucky then with my Nationwide savings account and it seems I have to keep it in that case! And just have the basic account with co-op.0 -
This probably won't help but I have a Flex account with Nationwide and whilst they are allowing it to remain open I was told they won't consider me for a debit card for the next 6 years.
