Weigela and cats
Hi guys
I have a weigela (wine & roses) that I rescued from a garden, it has taken a couple of years for it to establish but now that it has I find that all the local cats are attracted to it, they either lie in it, beside it or sit with their faces in it. I just do not understand their behaviour, There is no distinctive smell, the leaves are dark purple and it has red/pink trumpet flowers throughout the spring.
My pics do not do justice.
Any ideas why the cats like it so much, they are starting to do damage.

Oh my goodness! I don't have an answer to your question, I'm afraid - but I do have one of these plants in my garden and I always wondered why my cat likes to stand in front of it with his face buried in the leaves!
Perhaps it smells a bit like catnip/catmint? I bought him his own catnip plant a few months ago and he spends ages working out just how he can climb onto the pot and cuddle it to death!

That is one of the few shrubs that the local tom cats don't go near, thats possibly to do with the top dressing of horse muck under it.
If cats like it that much I am ordering more manure,it's worked so far by the looks of it.If you think this has helped make my day and hit the thanks button:beer:0
