Can anyone tell me how long it takes to receive the proceeds from a share sale?

    I'd imagine it depends upon the particular account.

    In terms of accessing the funds, after a sale, Halifax takes three working days from sell to crediting linked current account (via debit card).

    Last time I sold via Selftrade, I could use the realised funds immediately to make a new purchase. Last time I sold and transferred cash out on the same day, it reached my current account 5 working days later.

    That depends on the settlement terms agreed for the sale, the default is T+3 (settles on 3rd business day) however you can trade T+0 or T+1 for faster settlement. Certificated sales can take longer to settle.
