lost african gray greatly missed

i am hoping that someone who sees this may be able to help. Yesterday, 7th June 2008, my much loved african gray, escaped out of his cage and flew away at midday  in the sparkhill area of birmingham. The family is distraught without him and misses him greatly. he is also on medication which is more worrying. i had hoped he would be back by now, i have serached every park and neighbourhood in the locality but he is nowhere to be seen. i have also made posters and contacted the rspca. His cage is in the garden ready for his return. Please all look out for him or post me some advice please. His name is Nelson, he is an african gray with a red tail A substansial reward is offered to anyone who can bring him home as we just want him back. Having been to all the parks till 10pm yesterday an from 5am till now this morning, i am hoping that you the public in my area can help. please help if you can. thankyou

out for themselves by the sounds of things. i'm not in your area but i wish you all the luck in finding your pet. when you do find him may i suggest that you take him to the vets and get him microchipped as should this ever happen again and he's handed in they will contact you. have your tried all the local vets and animal shelters?
good luck in your search and i hope the out come is a happy one xxxx

Sorry to hear about Nelson, it's dreadful when a loved pet goes missing. If you haven't already read through them, there are some tips on these recent posts: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=949053 and http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=930541

I hope he flies home to you soon.

That's fantastic news, you must be so happy to have Nelson home!:j
But you don't need me to tell you how lucky you are - you've learned your lesson the REALLY hard way. Let's hope the rest of us with birds all take note of your experience and do everything we can to prevent it happening to us and our much loved companions. Sadly, it just takes one small mistake - a window left open when it's hot, taking a bird into the garden thinking it can't/won't fly away, leaving your bird with carers but not briefing them properly....

Anyway, that's great news! Give him a tickle from me

Glad you found Nelson......I had my parrot fly out of the door once....but lucky for us we had clipped his wings.

Perhaps you can have the Vet show you how to clip his wings? It doesnt hurt the bird and stops him flying too high or too far.
