You have definately done the right thing I think. PN's post on the previous page pointed out future difficulties with the arrangement that should'nt be underestimated. I was very close to buying a house recently, and pulled out with a couple of weeks to go.
I was having sleepless nights fretting about it too, and started arguing a lot with the girlfriend. As soon as I got off the phone to the agent signaling my intentions a massive weight lifted and I felt VERY happy.

Not much to gain by buying right now but a lot to lose potentially.
