Hi,
I don't know if anyone can help.
I wanted to treat the kids but at the same time get the best deal (of course).
I was thinking of booking a travel lodge in December to Birmingham (from Leicester), but I can't get 5 people in 1 room.
SO I then thought What about Drayton Manor or Alton Towers overnight.
The only thing that puts me off is that the hotels say "Only 10 mins drive" - yeah, right - if you have a car it is!
Do any of you helpful lot know of an overnight family break that a family of 5 could book? I know it's a long shot, but I' have scoured the internet and every time I type in 5 people it says nothing available.
Thanks for any help.
Claire.

Well the biggest problem is going to be getting to AT without a car, it can be done some rail companys do a rail ticket with a ticket into the park as well.
The closest B&B to AT is a place called through ivy house. I have never stayed there and I dont know anyone that has stayed there so I cant comment on how good it is, but it is about 5mins walk from AT main gate. so you dont need a car. :j Through Ivy House
I dont know how much you were planning on spending but that is the closest place to AT, I dont think you could safely walk from any of the others.
As for tickets to the park. Cadburys are doing a promotion where you can get a 2for the price of 1 voucher in their choccy bars. So that would cut the cost down. But that only works with one full paying adult. (which they class as over 12!!!! cashing in or what?)
But if you go on the AT website Here then you can get the tickets sent to you and adult tickets will cost £22 instead of £29 on the gate. It woudl also be better because you can walk strait into the park in the morning and not wait to get tickets.
Hope some of this helps
I just looked at the place where I am staying when I go to AT and it looks like they do a family room for 5 people. :j :j The Laurels
I have stayed here 3 times and can highly recommend it. A very nice couple that run the place. It is ncie a clean the food is nice and faily priced and the breakfasts are good.
The only problem with the laurles is that it is not within walking distance to the park. it is about 5-10 mins by car (up a steep hill) and there are no paths.
I would give the laurels a ring and ask if they have any local taxi services etc. AT open season only runs untill the end of october. And near the end is their firworks nights which are always busy. All the info should be on their website.
That about all I can think of.
If you want any more info please feel free to PM me!JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
