I've just subscribed to a thread (on purpose), to be told that I already have over 400 subscriptions, looks like every thread i reply to, i subscribe to, and I can only see a way to remove 20 subs at a time, which could take all evening.
any idea what's gone wrong, and how i can fix it?

Why bother? I'm subscribed to over 1300 at the moment. I think, as you say, you automatically subscribe to threads you post on.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
I've tried looking in User CP but it just tells me I'm not subscribed to any threads. I tried looking in FAQ but couldn't find anything.
If one of you would kindly help that would be great thanks0 -

That's the way the system works, reply and you are automatically subscribed. You can of course, as you have done purposely, subscribe to a thread that interests you, but you haven't posted on.
I wouldn't worry about it, as the thread dies out [which most do unless it's a sticky] you don't hear any more.
Sometimes, it's quite good to hear a new reply on a old thread which occasionally happens.
If it's really bugging you to have that many subs, then you will have to go through the unsbscribe process. As you say somewhat time consuming.
Or, as soon as you post, go to your user CP and click unsubscribe straight away, but you won't get any notification of updates.
HTH.
