Letter confirming dates of employment/amounts earned

Options
Hello. I'm in need of some help.

I'm 21 (22 next week) and because of this I applied for student finance as an independent person last year (just finished). Anyway, I didn't end up getting any non-paybackable maintanence grants because firstly I couldn't get suitable proof of my income for the whole three years. This was down to two reasons, one - I had lost my p60u form from the time I was claiming JSA (tried to get replacement but they don't do them apparently) and two - I was self employed for a period of 1.5 years and whilst I was applying for student finance all of my details happened to be with the tax man as part of my tax return. In the end I didn't get any 'free' grants - I didn't even apply on my parents income because there were further complications with that (my dad's also self employed).

I explained all this to my LEA and they said they were 'sympathetic'. Anyway, they sent me a letter requesting that I send them "a letter from the Inland Revenue confirming dates of employment together with amounts earned".

I tried to get something of the sort even sending a letter to the inland revenue but no luck. Now re-applying for finance for next year I face the same problems. I have been indepedant for over three years now and my income last year was obviously very low meaning I should be entitled to the maximum support and therefore bursaries from the Uni.

So my questions are;

Does any know how and from which inland revenue department I can get the aforementioned "letter confirming dates of employment and amounts earned".

And secondly

Does anyone know If I can re-apply for last years students loans, even assesed on my parents income which is not freely available, to claim what I should of been entitled to and reduce this amount from the re-payable loans that I had to take out. (I estimate this to be somewhere around £1,000)

Bit long winded but thanks in advance.
