www.indibooks.co.uk is great for social work books she is a social worker herself.
I have bought from her and its good service I am not sure if they will have key texts but worth a look

the abolute cheapest way to do it is to work in the reference section of the library - where there should be a copy of most key texts that can't be removed, or can only be taken out for 24 hours.

otherwise check your department for people who are graduating and have books to sell - often there are posters up on the walls. might also be worth waiting until you're a month in - you may find that some of the books aren't worth bothering with (again, someone in the year above could be pretty useful to talk to!).

What texts are you after? Our uni bookshop has second hand texts for really good prices.

https://www.unitextbooks.net is fairly new but has a lot, not sure how much their postage charges are though, they are based at Plymouth Uni for now.

I usually get mine from the second hand sellers on amazon. But to be truthful, I've never found any of my sw text books cheap. Chat to the tutors as well, chances are you won't need at least half those books. Having just finished my third year and doing children and families, I can assure you, I doubt you'll need to buy more than 4 or 5 books. Ask the tutor which are most useful and just stick to those!
