My husband archived the e mail in-box in Outlook. Now need to restore them but don't seem to be able to.

When we use "import from another prog or file" we get an error message saying "this personal folder file.pst is already in use in the current profile".

I need my e mails back - help please!!!!

Do you know if the emails were on an IMAP server? Can you say what type of emails? eg: gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc.

    Hi Tech Guy
The emails were in the Outlook small business inbox and other folders.
    I hope that helps,

How is outlook connected to the mail server? IMAP or POP3? Which provider?

Would it make any difference though? Surely the archive folders are saved to the local drive? It's a matter of restoring them to the folders, or at least being able to view the archived folder surely?

Hi have you had any luck getting your mails back?
When you are opening the pst file in outlook, you shouldn't need to import from another program. I believe that you can do File>open>outlook data file, then navigate to the area where the archive pst is held.
The error message you are receiving is because the default mail delivery location into outlook is into a pst file already (i.e if you right click on the little icon in the folder list that contains your inbox called 'outlook today- personal folders' then this will give you the actual mail pst file location- note that this isn't your archive folder) However, if you can locate where the other archived mail pst is, you should be able to open it.
    Hope this helps
