Hi pandaperson
Don't be scared, people on this board are lovely. I was the same in December but now look at how many posts I have made (even if most of them are mindless drivel). And you found the post smilies so you are doing pretty well

Come aboard and welcome pandaperson.
We've all been in the newbie, shy phase - but as others have said, just dig in - most of the members are really helpful and supportive.0 -
if they are about getting out of debt, then add them to this thread or start another thread with a specific title.
If it's about another subject ie savings, cutting tx, going bankrupt etc) have a wander around all the other fab MSE boards - far too many to list here!!

Well..here goes, have decided that this is the month that we (family) are finially gonna get out of debt, but I am at a loss as to how to cut back on stuff that they feel is important without making them feel mum is BAD. Have so far cut back on the food by buying value stuff and they haven't noticed but what about the other stuff like days out etc...am I being silly or is there a way?0

Hi, I am new too. In the few days I have been on board I have found the boards to be so very helpful and supportive. There are people here who have been through or are going through the same as you, so I feel sure whatever your questions answers will be found.
Good luck!!The good you do comes back to you.DFW Long haul supporters No: 134

ooh, there's lots of ways. Have days out where it is free (ie the park) and take a picnic made with the value bits and pieces or look out for vouchers where you can get 2 for 1 at attractions.
Switch to Freeview if you have Sky - I don't have kids but I'm sure there are kids channels on Freeview. Swap mobiles to PAYG as soon as you are out of contract.
Find out when your local supermarket reduces the stuff - my local (non 24 hour) Asda is 12pm for first reduction and just after 6pm for the second one and Tesco is around 5pm and 9pm.
