Brother has £5000 to save... Where?

My brother wants to save £5000 that he got as inheritence.

Best way I see if £3000 in a ISA and £2000 in a high rate savings accounts.

Wants instant access if possible.

Where is the best to put these; any recommendations on which banks?

£3600 in an ISA and the rest in a high interest account.

I would personally recommend ICESAVE for the high interest account but there are many out there who are offering around 6%.

Best I come up with is:

    HSBC - 6.25% ISA
    Birmingham Midshires Esaver - 6.51%

    Anything better than this

    Two good choices

    * HSBC is a very well capitalised bank and the Cash e-ISA rate is good.
    * Birmingham Midshires e-Saver (Issue 2) is one of the best variable rates around (for a UK based Bank).

As both amounts are under the £35k limit your savings are 100% safe.

If he doesn't mind a 1 yr fixed account then Icesave are offering 7.01% (as are Kaupthing but my experiences with them today have put me off using them) ;)
