RBS Card Application

Hi,

Yesterday I applied for an RBS Credit Card. It showed me the credit limit they will be offering me and asked me to clik on the box to accept the tearms and conditions. Once I clicked it showed the following message:-

Thank you for applying for an RBS Credit Card.
From the information you have submitted we're unable to give you an instant decision at this time.
We will contact you within the next 7 - 10 working days as to the success of your application.
Thanks for using our online application and we look forward to being of service to you in the future.
Anyone else had this problem? As I thought if it gives me the credit limit then they have accpeted my application.

Thnaks
MS

I think it is an idicative system, so if you get approved that is what you will get as they operate on a no signature basis.

Yeh, I suspect once they've done their checks and all is Ok. Then they will be able to offer you that credit limit. You'll just have to wait and see. Probably be about a week and you should get something through the post.

Well just had a phone call from RSB and they require 3 months bank statements and payslip or P60. I have applied for credit before and no one asked me to provide ID even for Current accounts. I find it abit strange as I also already hold a Natwest Credit Card which is issued through RBS.

RBS and Natwest operate entirely separately and any 'ID' held with one company will not be used by the other. In these days of tightened credit requirements it's nothing unusual.

All I know is that I personally would want 3 month's bank statements before offering someone credit!

Just an update - I sent 3 months bank statements (March & April statements were duplicate written on them issued by FD) because I did not receive March or Aprils and I contacted FD and they sent it to me again. I also sent original P60.

I contacting RBS today and they have a note on there system saying photocopies received. Advisor told me that copies are not accepted. I explained that they are all originals and not copies.

Can anyone advice what should I do?

    Thanks

I've also been going through the same process with Natwest, who are part of the RBS group, and they too disclosed my credit limit online, then a week later asked for my payslips too. I agree it's unusual, never happened to me before, but maybe the banks are playing it much safer with credit applications these days. It's a shame they couldn't just check my Natwest bank account which would have showed them my wages going in!

I sent them back a week ago and haven't heard anything yet.....
  • Has anybody heard anything yet re the above posts??? Did you get the cards and the limit or were you turned down?

    Hello,

I had the same process. Applied online, was accepted with credit limit of £4250 and then they said they will let me know in 7 days. About a week later a letter arrived asking for copy of most recent payslip. Sent that off to them and the card arrived about 3 weeks later.

    Good luck.

Apart from the delay it was a great deal. Interest free for 1 year!

    Hi there,

Yes, I went through exactly the same process about five months ago - credit limit given online, then had to provide payslips etc, but did get the card and the limit that had ben given online.

I think that the earlier poster was correct - it looks like they approve in principle, and as long as you can prove that the info on the application was right they stick to it.
