So. Here we are again. The stage is set for Saturday morning as the end of the mortgage. Seven days later than I would have liked, however it means that plans have been put in place for the celebration. The champagne is in the fridge (We always keep a bottle on stand by, for when Thatcher dies! As do many of my friends), and we have a loose plan of action that involves bars, tapas, more bars and (if we are still standing) a restaurant!

That will be 13 years early! Mortgage Free at 38.

    Thanks again for the messages!

Mortgage free at 38 sounds amazing! My longterm aim is to be mortgage free by the time I'm 40, got 15years to pay off £119k. Just started OP and worked out budgets to try and keep OP a nice amount each month.

    Enjoy the celebrations!

How refreshing to know that I am not the only one to have champers in ready for the demise of a certain woman. I also have a large box of fireworks and certain music lined up for a party ( think Wizard of Oz the wicked witch is dead ). I too have paid off our mortgage last month and just divert the money into savings now. I always promised that we would have a super luxery holiday when we had done it but so far no where really appeals.

I know loads of people who are planning to pop the corks when she kicks the bucket. The phrase "only the good die young" seems to be holding true in her case?

We drank the "bottle" on my wife's birthday, so she brought two more in last night. One for at the weekend, and one "on stand by"!

Maybe we should start a new thread about Thatcher, maybe not as we would get slated for wishing her demise !
I have good reasons for the party-think pit strikes, yes my oh was a miner and we live in a pit village and we had 3 kids under 5 she stole food off us by claiming that we were paid strike pay when it was common knowledge that we were not so any benefits we got were reduced by the amount she said we were getting.
There will be a mega party in our street.
