Hi just a quick reply. Would recommend www.entitledto.com as a starting point for figures.
A few you could claim.. Incapacity Benefit if not receiving SSP from employer. Possibly DLA regarding your ongoing heart problems. Depending on wifes health issues possibly the same.
You could either claim Income Support or wife could claim pension credit. Do you have savings if so seek advise on best one to claim.
Housing Benefit if you rent and council tax benefit regardless of renting.
more info on www.dwp.gov.uk. Look under Working age.
Also make sure you phone up on Monday to make claim. Benefits claim are often dated from date you call.
Have a look at details and post back any queries. the Benefits system is a minefield so hopefully we can make it easier for yuou.0 -
Hello Tony - Have a look for your local DIAL (Disability Information Alliance?)office too, they will help you through the Benefit minefield, also your local CAB (Citizens Advice)office both will help with form completing etc. (you may need to make an appointment - give them a call first). Your local council is a good source of information - if you need help to find any associations or departments the local library will help you.
