Book an appt to see your LPA - they may be able to give you some options.

Thank you. funnnily enough I got my appointment through automatically for my "work focussed interview yesterday"!
Am I likely to be able to get an appoinment for next week though, or are they usually quite booked up?

Whoever told you this really shouldn't have as they were wrong. Your IS should stop the day before you start work - regardless of when your first payday is. Eligibility for the jobgrant and HB run on is dependant on having been in receipt of IS for 26 weeks.

But my IS DID stop. However the loophole comes in that because I didn't receive any pay until after the 26wks were up, I still got the grant and the HB run on.

Give them a call. My diary is normally booked up for about 2 weeks ahead but if someone is starting a job I'll always find a space to squeeze them in.

Thank you, I got an appointment and went in today, she was really quite helpful! I have managed to delay my start by 2 days, taking me to 26 weeks and 1 days on IS:j
Additionally, I got a £150 voucher to buy back to work clothes! Real result as I was a bit worried about that!:o
Any ideas when the job grant is applied? and when working tax credits will start?
    Many thanks x

That's great news! Your job grant usually takes about 3-5 days and don't forget that you'll get you rent and council tax for 4 weeks as well.

Did your adviser do your tax credit claim or are you doing that yourself? If you're already on child tax credit it should just take a few days, if not should be within a fortnight (ish)

Did your adviser tell you about in work adviser support and in work emergency fund too? You can access these in the first 26 weeks at work.

I don't know about an IS run on - it might be something specific to your area? Here it's paid when IS finishes, which is the day before you start work.

The in work adviser support is where you can see your LP adviser for help ironing out any teething problems with things like housing benefit, tax credits etc or any work issues. The in work emergency discretion fund is a fund which can pay for any financial emergencies which may lead to you having to give up work eg if you rely on your car to get to work and it breaks down, or if your tax credit claim gets delayed and you have to pay for childcare - it can be considered for pretty much anything though.
