If you are feeling lonley or just want a "General Chat" click here

Be sure to read the very first post tho ;)
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

I know I am probably not as bad off as others, but you know what it's like, when it's your own problem it seems a whole lot worse to you than to anyone else.

I also wanted to say I meant I got £25 a fortnight from DSS not a week!

Thanks for the link and I will have a look at that tomorrow too. :) I should get off to bed.

    Thanks everyone.

By posting on here you have made a huge step forward to dealing with things, so think you should give yourself credit for that. Sounds as though you are ready to take the next steps forward now, little steps soon add up to major chances, and this can be sorted.

Wasn't sure whether to reply here because didn't know if you'd want me to see this.

But don't worry about me paying the gas! I'd rather know you had some money to eat!

If you want, I can come through maybe next week and work out what you owe, etc. Mind you, you might want to do that on your own, just let me know if you want me to help though. I need to sit and do the same actually.

Just don't feel embarrassed or anything, everyone gets in trouble with money sometimes and nobody is looking down on you for it!

    I love you x
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.
  • Hi

I just thought I'd put a quick message on here to let you know that I'm really thinking of you. I've suffered from depression (though luckily it's never affected me financially) and it's really horrendous. It's so hard when people say to you 'just do it' because it's not that simple.

But everyone on this forum is really helpful and supportive. My advise would be that whilst on the one hand you need to take each step as it arrives, one day at a time, you also need to remember to push yourself. Taking deep breathes, preparing yourself for what may lay ahead and you'll get there.

Good luck - it'll all work out eventually.
    A :)

I'm bipolar and had similar debts to yours on benefits.

First things first. Are you sure you're well enough to work? If you're not managing to sign on maybe you should think about applying for disability benefits, they're a bit higher than jobseekers, and you don't have to sign on. By the sounds of it you need some breathing space to get yourself sorted out. YOUR HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOUR DEBT.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Oops, don't know what happened there it posted before I'd finished.

Secondly, if you're on means tested benefits you should be paying £1 per debt, not £10 - on your income then £10 is clearly not affordable. If you pm me I've got a letter from CAB that makes the offer, I'll send you a copy. You might have to send them proof of benefits though.

I know how hard it is when you're depressed, and the phonecalls don't make it any easier. Someone should be able to advise on how to write to them to get them to stop calling.

If you want to chat I'm here, feel free to pm me, I've been where you are (in a lot of ways I'm still there).

Well you are a fly wee bum!! I didn't think you ever wandered onto this part of the site. And you never mentioned anything on the phone earlier. I love you too though :) Might be an idea for you to come through and to work it all out together. You know me I will get stressed or confused. :P

    Everyone meet my daughter. :)

Thanks for the advice so far folks it has all been great. I was away for most of the day so didn't get a chance to do anything about even trying to find all my bills. I will get there though. It's just going to take me a little bit of time methinks. :S

You know earlier this evening I was reading this post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=937079

and it really upset me, I thought it was a pretty grim situation and I wondered about people and families etc. And now I have read your thread, and ok I have had a beer so you know bound to be a little emotional (!) but its lovely. Elkay you may (like the rest of us at some point) be completely bricking it and wondering what is going to happen but you have a daughter who loves you, what a wonderful thing. You won't ever be alone. and now you are here we won't leave you alone either! and well money is scary but hey its doable. this place is great I really can't say that often enough.

you take care and keep posting, it works
