Utility Warehouse for Landlords

I was at a forum for landlords and was approached by a Utility Warehouse agent/member who suggested this was a good add on scheme for landlords with a number of tenants.

Have any landlords joined UW and has it been a success? And how much time has it taken up?

Thank you

People pushing UW are only in it for what they can gain from others.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

thanks - I do understand that as I went to a "meeting" - however, as a Landlord I would be pleased to earn further income, as long as it is a "win-win" for my tenants and myself.

I am interested to learn if others have used this scheme JUST for tenants, rather than signing up friends/aquaintenances and earning on them.

How can it be win-win for your tenants when they could get their energy cheaper from other suppliers?

Its what looks like a network marketing system that sells gas/electric/telephones etc. on a one-bill system - they are not the cheapest and they are under the big 6 suppliers..I wanted to talk with others who had joined to see how they got on.

I do understand that however they purport to be lower priced that the big 6 and the fact that all expenses come on one monthly bill seems to be an idea that appealed to many of the people at the seminar.

    Thanks for replying

When they claimed to be lower than the big 6, they egged their own pudding!

In fact all they claim to do is sell gas cheaper than British Gas do, and remain "competitve" with the big 6 on electricity.

For both gas and electricity they don't include being competitive with any on line tariffs (usually the cheapest) or any dual fuel discounts offered by the big 6. They also only include direct debit tariffs, but don't include their monthly membership fee (£1.76 to £3 a month).

So you see the truth is far different from what you understood, and they quite definitely are NOT the lowest price of the Big 6.

I agree that if someone told you that at a UW seminar, it would sound appealing!

LesleyW, the best thing you can do is approach a distributor and sit down and works things out to see if you will benefit by the services. They may not be the cheapest for one service but it could work out cheaper by using more than one service, at the end of the day if your happy with what you see then why not?

How can it work out cheaper when neither service claims to be the cheapest, (and only stays "competitive" against standard tariffs), and you have to pay a monthly membership fee on top?

Anyone looking to save money will surely be looking at on-line tariffs these days, which UW doesn't attempt to remain competitive with (according to its guarantee small print):
Guarantees exclude Club Membership fee, surcharge for gas customers using an Independent Gas Transporter, Dual-Fuel discounts and online tariffs. Only applies to direct debit customers

    I wouldn't touch UW.

Membership fees, higher than the competition!

    No way thank-you - I ain't that thick!

What fool would go for a dodgy service that is dearer than others out there?
