Hiya, firstly I apologise if this is the wrong bit for my question.
Can anyone help please?
I want to do a course in college, but it is only available as full-time, will I lose all my benefits if I do this course?
I get
Child Tax Credits
Child Benefit
and my partner gets
Working Tax Credit (paid into my post office account)
Help, I really really want to do this course so I can change my career.
Thanks in advance xx

You won't lose anything as CTB and CTC is dependent on the number of kids you have and WTC is based on your partners income (assuming you're a stay at home mum).0

You may also be eligible for extra financial help through your college depending on your household income, help you may get includes money towards housing costs and childcare.
You should go into the college you are hoping to attend and ask to speak to a finance advisor who will be able to help you.
Good luck.0 -

Sorry, there's no way a college will give you funding for housing costs although you might get a tiny amount towards childcare. However, depending upon household income, the academic level of the course and your previous qualifications, you might well be eligible for the Adult Learning Grant so I'd agree that you should see the Welfare Adviser/Student Finance Officer at the college.0 -
Sorry I only know how the further education system works in Scotland which is obviously different from the rest of the UK. When I was at college 3yrs ago there was a housing fund that you could apply to get help with your housing costs either rent or mortgage and a childcare fund this paid most of my colleagues childcare in full. This was only for courses that were classed as further education, the system is different for higher education. AFAIK there isn't an ALG in Scotland.0
