Break in work....tax credits effect?

Hi all,

It looks like i will be leaving my post in a few weeks time. I currently recieve working tax credit and some housing benefit. I am going to be out of work for 3 weeks, then in work temping for two, on annual leave for one (unpaid) in work tempint again for one and then job hunting! The temping i'll be doing is strangely at the place i'm leaving (very strange and long story!). What i need to know is how will this effect my tax credits, will I loose the WTC for July (when i'm not working for three weeks) and get it back in august when i'm temping, loose it altogether, or does three weeks not count as a sufficient break to loose it. I know a number of people who only work term time so have 6 weeks off over the summer yet get tax credits all year round so not sure how this works?

I know my housing benefit amounts will go up and down alongside my wages, just unsure about the tax credits.

You have to be working a minimum of 16hrs a week to get it so I'd say yes.

If you work term time only but get paid for the whole 12 months of the year (i.e your annual salary reflects the amount of weeks you work, not including any paid holidays you would get anyway, but your salary is divided in 12 monthly payments) then this is classed as continuous employment so you are therefore eligible to get WTC/CTC.
