Budget Airline Troubles
Options
Earlier this year I started making arrangements for a family weekend in Vienna. The plan was that we would fly from Luton to Vienna on 25th September and return on 29th September.
In the middle of February I started checking flight availability and fares on the airline website. On entering the return date as 29th September the message: “The route you have selected is for sale until 28th September 2008. Please check the “Timetables” section……..” I continued to check via the website for several weeks with the same results.
Not wanting to miss the opportunity of low fares I decided, on 24th March, to book the outbound flights and await the arrival of the winter timetable before booking the return flights. I also made several more checks on the website.
On 12th April I emailed the airline asking when we would be able to book the return flights for 29th September. Their reply on 14th April explained that new schedules were released about three months before the end of the existing schedule and that the next winter schedule, from October to March, was due to be released in approximately June.
On 24th April I received an email from you saying:“I regret to inform you that the flights from Vienna to London Luton will not operate after the 28 of September and will become available again from February only.” On receipt of this message I telephoned a member of their staff who I found to be unfriendly, unsympathetic and totally uncooperative, refusing my request to speak to his manager. As a result I was had to change our travel plans and book our return flights for 28th September 2008 thus curtailing what had been intended as an enjoyable family weekend break.
As a matter of curiosity I visited the airline web site a few weeks later and I now find that they are advertising flights from Vienna to Luton on 29th September. Also the flights on this date are considerably cheaper at 179.96 euros than the price I was obliged to pay the flights returning on 28th September, for which I paid a total of 380.23 euros.
I then wrote a letter of complaint to the company and asked for an explanation for the manner in which they had dealt with this matter.
About two weeks ago I received a totally nonsensical email from them which still failed to address the matters I had complained about so I wrote again. Both letters were sent special delivery addressed to the CEO and still I have received no satisfactory response.
Any suggestions please?:(
