In her home country it meant a lot to get a UK degree. Companies would not employ people without a Degree and a UK Degree helped even more, hence the reason to come to UK. In UK, Degree's do help, but are not the be all and end all.
Have you not considered going over to her own country? She has a BA from there, and a Masters from the UK. If UK qualifications are so highly regarded in her own country. With her current educational past, she should be able to get a top job. I'm sure that with a UK education, you would also be able to do well (seeing as it's so highly regarded in her country).
Why is it so important you stay here if it is causing you so many frustrations with the immigration system? How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Yes, that is our plan in 5 years time.... maybe sooner once we have finished the mortgage.. just £25k to go.
In the meantime we are saving (hence using this site) and have also helped finance a Business start up with the my wife's brother to assist us with our future plans.
My original post was to highlight just how expensive the Legal Immigration process has become and how the prices for Immigration Visa's have shot up enormously since 2002.0 -

It was this line in your first post that made me doubt.
It is admirable that you are both going the proper route. Yes, this does cost money, but this is not the only country that this applies to.
My cousin emigrated to Australia a few years ago. It has cost her many £1000s to now acquire citizenship for her family and herself. This is aside from the fact that through the different exchange rates, she doesn't earn anywhere near what she used to in this country.
You could balance this £3000/£4000 cost to your wife for naturalisation against the earnings potential she may have in this country. Compared to many non-EU countries this amount would be massive, but in a good job here, it doesn't seem that bad (I don't feel that this is a particularly big amount against good earnings).
Good luck for your future. I really do wish both of you the best. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
