Last night had loads to do on my computer but had to spend two hours trying to sort out what was wrong with it. I don't know if I caused it or not except that I was trying to find out for myself why I am shown as a visitor when I try searching for MSE using Google/Firefox.
I got a warning like this:
AOL No.188 warning,corrupt file.
told to search for "chkdsk + + " which did not work. I finally got it
sorted by using System Restore and going back to the end of April. The first date I chose did not put it right even though on that date I was using my computer without problem.
System restore advised me that "files system type is NTFS. One of the disks needs to be checked" There were then three stages before it said it was OK.
Was there an easier way to have put it right without it taking so long?

I've always found chkdsk takes a long time, so if it was demanding you run it, then that doesn't sound too long to me. Maybe someone else can shed some more light on it.“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” - Lao Tzu
