Why get so stressed about it? As soon as the bill comes check it , even if it says its a reading. Send them the reading and you get a new bill. Done.

BG put me onto ebilling without even asking, so the bill arrived via email whilst I was at work (20 miles away), and because it said it was a reading (NOT an estimate), then for all I knew, I'd have to pay the £180, when I'd only anticipated and put aside about £70 tops. If they'd said it was an estimate, rather than a reading, then I wouldn't have given a sh*t, as they always get estimates wrong!

Exactly! I'm sorry but really, don't some people have anything better to fret about?

It's been solved in one phone call, what are you expecting? If BG get a read from a subcontracted data collector, they will bill to it. You get the bill, if it's incorrect you phone them and it's sorted in one call.

Sounds like reasonable service to me, and I work for their competitors!

Yes, indeed, one phone call, when I got home from work, which was 8 hours away...

No need to be so rude.

You may have a spare £100 to donate to gas companies, but not everyone does! How was I to know the ejit had read the wrong meter?? They normally only bother with an estimate, so this time when they claimed they'd actually read the meter, I presumed that it would be accurate.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
