Laptop HP question

Im posting for a family member, they have brought a laptop which is now out of warenty.
It stopped working a few months ago, so we have tried to help get it fixed for them we have contacted HP and first call they told us this product had been recalled and they would fix it for free.
second call they now have said thye will not fix it as it is out of warenty and it will cost £294.
the problem is a graphics error and it wil need a need a new bord.
Will they need to seed it to HP or be able to get someone else to fix it?
Im not to good with computers so excuse my lack of knowledge !!

No, you can get laptops repaired, cheaper than this, search google and get quotes.Kind Regards
