You need to look at centrino models for the best battery life.
What applications are you looking to run, what is your budget and do you have any particular requirements re size of screen, weight etc for a start???0 -
I use a Dell Inspiron 8100 which has a media bay at the front. Normally there's a floppy drive in the bay but if you can put an extra battery in there too. I've had over 6 hours out of it on dual battery in the past. I don't know if any of the more up to date Dells do this? I believe this model is a few years old and went up to something like 1.3g PIII. As I understand it the processor uses quite a lot of the battery power so the higher you go the less the battery life. Four hours may be pushing it a bit for the latest laptops but the simplest solution may be just an extra battery requiring a reboot to change. Do bear in mind though the exhorbitant cost of laptop batteries! A colleague once got a PC World 'Advent' laptop, the cost of a new battery was about 60% the cost of the laptop itself.
Hope this helps?Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0 -
I'm after one of these - Averatec 3360. I can't find an online U.K. supplier although I know Staples did stock the earlier model in its stores.
Nearest I've found is a German supplier. He only sells Averatec laptops, business card makers and wobbly skateboards on his site - bit of an odd set-up! He also sells on ebay - e.g. Averatec 3360 sold for 899 euros (£610) + 20 euros (£14) delivery yesterday. I didn't fancy the foreign currency exchange and transfer fees though (- like most German sellers they don't accept Paypal) and I'm not sure if the supplied power adapter would be UK compatible. Anyone know?0
