Mac Mail v. 1.3.11 won't stop indexing

Hi,
Hope someone can shed some light on this one. I have googled, and I can see several people with the same problem, but no solution.
My Mail app keeps indexing my Sent mails (I have an IMAP account but the Sent folder isn't stored on the server)
It gets stuck on one email which is a little over 5mb. I have tried deleting this mail, but then it gets stuck on moving the message into the Trash mailbox. I don't really want to empty my Sent folder, although I did trash 100+ old messages in the hope that it would reduce the processing needed.
I left it trying to index for several hours, hoping it would eventually manage it...but it's still stuck. Halp!

I don't use Mail so I can't really help, but I can point you to the forums at https://www.macuser.co.uk where I'm sure someone will have the solution!0

Haven't had the problem, but here's a hack that might work...
Create a new local folder, copy over all the messages from Sent except for the one that is causing problems, then delete the whole Sent folder - either using Mail or Finder. Then simply rename the new folder to Sent or re-create the Sent folder and copy everything back.0
