Balance transfers

I had a balance of £8000 on a tesco credit card and applied for a balance transfer on a CTI card they only gave me a credit limit of £2000 so now I am paying 2 cards which is worse so I applied to Virgin who gave me a credit limit of £5000 which I paid the CTI card off and a bit of the Tesco but it still means paying 2 cards. Why are the credit limits so low?

Sorry. Only Citi and Virgin know the answer.

However, other things being equal, it's normally your existing credit - available and used - in relation to your annual income that determines a credit limit ;)
