Abbey charges in error

Hi All, first time i have posted but felt i had to. Just noticed on my account with Abbey i have been charged £1.90 and had the funds withdrawn form my account on 31/05. When i phoned and enquired about this i was informed it was an error on their side and has affected numerous abbey customers. Result, they wikl credit my account back in around 10 days!!!!!
Obviously i was not accepting that but to cut a long story short, they refused to credit my account with the £1.90 before Tuesday 10th June and as i was on the phone for 28 minutes complaining about the money THEY STOLE FROM YOUR AND MY ACCOUNT, they offered me 4p per minute compensation as this is the cost of the call.
Has anyone else noticved this charge on their Abbey account, had the money paid back any quicker, recieved any form of compensation and finally, able to let me know how i can claim proper compensation as if i went overdrawn for 1 day they would hammer me with charges.

Over the years I had various amounts of money go amiss from my account, I usually picked up on them but now I wonder if I really did! One of these "phantom" transactions did leave me overdrawn (very overdrawn). I didn't realise this until a company called to say their payment was declined. This transaction had a snowball effect and all my bills that were due at the time ended up declined. Needless to say I was charged a hefty sum for each one!!!! At the time I rang Abbey and they credited my account with the "phantom" transaction and only 1 of the bank charges of £20 thats all they were willing to do and I wasn't capable of arguing back at the time. So years later I come across this forum and lo and behold a lightbulb moment! I want my statements for that year and the others,so I can argue that it caused me financial hardship and distress (which at the time it VERY much did). I don't know what will happen or if I will succeed, but it's me fighting back for all the problems they caused me so fingers crossed.Supporting the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust0
