    The customer ALWAYS pays in the end , i just chose to control WHEN

    Just playing devils advocate.....

    Surely by not going for a fixed / capped rate, the its the companies that choose when you pay the increased rates, not you...?

    What capped tarriff are you going to, or any other Eon customer out there?

    Just had a look and there are 3 available.

    I'm currently on Eon Online Saver 5 as it's cheapest for me.

    But their is;

    E.ON Energy Saver 2

    £35 possible cancellation fee
    Free energy monitor
    Ends 1st October 2009

    or there is;

    E.ON Price Protection 15

    Same prices as above tarriff, but 9% discount available if paying my direct debit

    I am considering the capped tariff, just to be assured that we won't suffer any more increases.

    However as people have correctly stated, EON have only just increased their prices on 1st June.

    So maybe it's safer to wait, as their normal tariff is still cheaper. But then again, they may change the fixed/capped prices at any time...

    Are there any restrictions/small print to be aware of with the capped EON tariff? If it doesn't tie you in I may well go for it soon...

    Looks dearer than the rest

    Can someone point me in the right direction please.

    Energy Guarantee 5 is NOT a capped tariff. The guarantee is that the bills on this tariff will always be cheaper than british gas' standard tariff until sept 09.

    Like you said Price Protection 15 and Energy Saver 2 are the same tariff in terms of price. I would opt for the Price Protection as it does not have any penalty clauses unlike the Energy Saver 2.

    Hi EagerLearner

    Price Protection 15 doesn't have any penalty clauses. Be careful though- Energy Saver is also a capped tariff but DOES have a penalty fee. You can have a look through the terms and conditions on www.eonenergy.com/terms.

    And if you decide to go through with it you have a 14 day cooling off period from the day you go ahead with it, paperwork should be with you in the next few days, if there's anything you don't like in the welcome pack/t and c's you can always cancel.

    Thanks dellxps - it's the Price Protection 15 that I would be interested in, as long as there are no tie-ins, contract, or fees to start/leave the tariff.

    I am on EON Online Saver V5 right now, so I'd have to accept the 4% increase if I were to move to the capped V15... Scary! But I will think about it...

    For a 4% premuim to the market a fixed rate/capped rate seems worth it. But I think you would generally save over the longer term by switching to whoever is cheaper.

    Have not the lastest huge rise in electricity and gas prices been passed through now with these price hikes?
    so says another ordinary mug fighting the 1% who own the political machine grinding them down from on high...

    Dell xps the energy saver terms is that if you cancel you pay the cost of the moniter which is the £35 cancellation fee.

    I capped mine before the last increase when BG increased theirs. If BG put theirs up first then it`s almost guaranteed that EON will follow suit. I only paid the capped rate a few days before it actually went up.
