Shell drivers club vouchers

A note for anyone about to redeem their drivers club money off fuel voucher.
The small print on the back says you cannot use the voucher and pay the balance with the Shell Mastercard.
I was quite happy with my £16 off but not so happy that I had would miss out on rebate for the rest of the tankfull.
The attendant suggested buying £16 worth first, then the rest as a separate transaction.
