Help/advice Needed Urgently

Evening all,

I'm based in the UK and last December decided to buy some aftermarket wheels for my vehicle, from the US as the saving was unbelievable.:j

Basically we are 7 months down the line and I have just noticed that 2 of the wheels have defects (two types of defect). I have contacted the seller and made them aware of this, they told me that they would replace them. All was well until they sent me an email, informing me that I would have to pay for the freight, to send the two defected wheels back to them.

Is this right?? Or should they be covering all costs?? I figured that this was the best place to ask. The way I see it, it's not down to me - but I'm not 100% sure about consumer rights in the USA.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks again,

D from the UK

The bottom line is, you have NO rights. You're not in the USA.
You might have had a chance with your credit card company within a reasonable time but 7 months is probably too long.

probably the reason why you should purchase locally and pay a few pounds more....you can walk back into the shop with the wheels still on the car outside...ask the salesman to come out and inspect them....

When I buy anything from abroad...I weigh up the costs if something should go wrong...its a gamble...i may just lose...something which you have sadly just discovered

Hmm, well it's not really the retailer's problem that you live so far away and chose to import the wheels internationally. I think it's unreasonable to expect them to pay for shipping; if you'd bought them from a local shop, would you expect them to pay your petrol bill to drive back to the store? I think it's just a risk you take when you buy something from far away.
