two questions - Windows Media Player & drop down boxes

I'm seeking assistance on two fronts.

My Windows Media player doesn't give ANY sound on some sites that have music on but I've tried some miniclips that I have within email folders and can here the sound on these. Why would this be? There isn't any mute on and the volume on my speakers isn't turned off.

On a separate issue, how can you clear the info that automatically comes up by way of remembering (I assume) when you go onto a website that has boxes to insert details and it asks you for info - address, postcode, username, etc. My P.C is secondhand and has details of previous person. Hope that this makes sense!

Help much appreciated.
One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.

  • In firefox there is an option to clear private data. Go to Tools>Clear Private Data and check all the boxes.

In Internet Explorer go to tools>delete browsing history. Then select them all and the same will happen.

All I can suggest about the sound problem is to install Real Player aswell. Some websites (I belive the BBC is one of them) have realplayer as default playback. I think.

    Anyway, hope that helps. :)

I don't get an option within Tools to delete browsing history. Nor do I within the properties section.

I'll try and re-install Windows Media Player though.

With Media Player on some sites, it scrolls across as playing but there is no sound.

  • What version of internet explorer (if that is your web browser) are you using?

This can be found out by going to Help> about.

Not using IE 6, but from what I can remember.... Tools > Internet Options > Content > Auto Complete or something close to that. Once there you can choose to delete all the previously remembered settings.
