Mis-sold a car?

I think i'm in the right thread ...... ok here goes ...

I bought a used car in March from a franchised dealer .... one of the points i was told when the salesman was trying to sell the car was that it had 'tyre pressure monitors' which show up on the dash when you have a flat.

This never really came up until yesterday when i had the card serviced (at a different garage) i was asked 'did you realise that you had a flat tyre when you left the car here'? I asked them if it should have showed up on the dash display and was told no .... that model doesnt do that.

Do i have any possibility of recourse against the garage that sold the car? at the very least i would like the tyre pressure monitors installed.

Thanks for advice

It's sounds like it was only verbal - not that it makes it any less legitimate. But it is your word against theirs, and car dealers are very, shall we say, "profit-focused".

Give it a try, but unless you're outstandingly lucky you will need to be prepared to go into the showroom and make some noise!

well I highly doubt that you bought the car solely on the premise that it had tyre pressure monitors - so are oyu really that worried - its not as though the actual working of the car has let you down. If the guy only SAID this then you would have to prove this far down the line that he did actually say it and they will probably deny this. I wouldn't have thought it worth your while to get too annoyed about it and it doesn't sound like the type of thing you can just get installed. I suppose you could always ring the dealership and ask.

  • Don't know what car this is, but if it's a Renault you might be better off without them, they go wrong a lot and are expensive to fix. It also makes it more expensive when you need to get a tyre replaced.
