Open GL drivers

One of my young nephews has his own Win98se PC (no internet) to use as he likes.
Recently he was given a game for Win95/98 requiring 350mhz processor and 64mbRAM.
His PC is 500mhz and 128mbRAM, so should be O.K.
However when the game opens, there is a message that the correct OpenGL drivers are not present and therefore it must run in software mode.
This makes it incredibly slow and nigh on unusable.
The graphics card is nVidia riva128zx (agp)with the most up to date driver I can find.
I've Googled OpenGL, but I don't really know what I'm looking for, most of it seems too modern or refers to LInux.
Any pointers in the right direction would be most appreciated, then once he's sorted I can sort my own PC!!
Thanks R

Did you check the official nVidia website?0

Maybe the card is only supports direct x if you have the latest drivers?0
-
perhaps tell us what the game is, i seem to remember that coming up on a game but if you went to the games setup options there was the option to run it in directx,
i have lots of old drivers so will have a look when i get chance so keep bumpin this threadclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
One of these should do the trick, download a few of the latest latest and put on cd for him
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_archive.html
make sure you have a restore disk or a solution like goback as some cheaper cards where not that compatible and you could end up with a non bootable systemclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
Apologies for late reply, thanks one and all, my own PC has had problems.
I'll probably do a mini blog on the backing up sticky.
I'd already tried nvidia but all their drivers ask for the original Riva 128 cd, which I don't have.
Regarding Direct X, the Win98 has all the updates as far as June 06, there are no options that I can see to run in this mode.
However I managed to get a different one from Drivers Guide
I know nothing about games, but this Speedway game defaults to 32bit colour, when this is altered to 16bit, same as desktop, and with the new driver installed, all seems to work satisfactorily.
Result one happy 10 year old, who paid with his own half dozen fresh free range eggs.
Everyone happy. Thanks R.Move along, nothing to see.0
