As for Llantwit, I hadn't realised it was AT the coast or I'd have gone there by now, so I did a quick maps.google .... and found [a] it wasn't it wasn't sandy.

boooooo was my rating for this rubbish.

The 'beach' at Llantwit is about a mile out of the town, you can get a good cuppa in the cafe on the sea front. Miles of sandy beaches it is not.

Dunno, but the top 10 were (in rough order)

    10. Plockton (somewhere up near Skye)
    9. Tynemouth
    8. St. Andrews (Fife)
    7. St. Mawes
    6. Adleburgh
    5. Budleigh Salterton
    4. Heswall
    3. Llantwit Major
    2. Sandbanks
    1. Lymington

No mention of Selsey then?

Been to Plockton, it is really lovely. However, the midges are of the species that decide whether to eat you there or take you back home for later. It is also quite wet.

Doubt anyone on here would be able to afford to buy in Adleburgh even if the market was correcting.

Plockton is virtually home turf for me, in fact, I'll be there next week. Agree the midges can be fearsome, though I personally don't get bitten.

Can't agree with you on the weather this year though! The weather there has been glorious for the past 2 months!

I think I would buy in Plokton, just for the name.
St Mawes -is beautiful, no need for employment, as they are all retired.
Adleburgh - Use to live near there, lovely houses , but sea is bitter and so windy, also Suffolk is still in 1900,s.
Sandbanks - Over priced houses and unfriendly people, who think paying £2million for a house, entitles them to think they own the place! Wonderful beach.
Lymington - Lovely place, no beach though.
Selsey - another place I unfortunatly lived (28yrs ago), pubs and football club where good, could get a drink 24hrs a day somewhere, as for a beach, well if you live too near you will get washed away most years.
Perranporth has one of the best beaches in southern england, house on the hill overlooking the town would be great, especially when the holiday makers have gone home.
Be-littling somebody only make's you look a bully.
Any comments I make on here are my opinions, having worked in the lettings industry, and through life.

Re: St Mawes - I dare say they were refering to commuting to Truro for work. At least you stand a chance in Truro of bagging a useful level of wage.

I must tell my uncle that Llantwit isn't on the coast. He'll be really surprised, having been a lifeguard at Llantwit beach for many years. :rotfl:

You're right though, it's not the best beach in the world. There are some sandy bits when the tide goes out but people go there to walk and surf rather than sunbathe.

It's quite a nice area but I can't imagine why it would be in the top 100 UK, never mind the top five. There are several far better spots on the South Wales coast alone.

It is probably there because employees of the TV production company have bought investment properties in Llantwit.
