Any Honeywell Galaxy Alarm experts out there??

Hope this is the best forum for this query....

I've got a Galaxy alarm with two keypads, one upstairs, one downstairs.

I noticed today that the Power LED on the downstairs is flashing rapidly (lots of flashes, pauses lit, then flashes again) and the pad upstairs is flashing, although more slowly.

I've looked at the Display log and seen it has the "0001 + CU-BAT" error, and also the "0001 - CU-BAT" error as well.

I can see from my manual that it means the standby battery has gone under/over fully charged.

My question is, if it is flashing, does that mean it will charge the battery or do i need to replace it?

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it very much

    Hi,

I'm not familiar with this particular alarm but in general it sounds like the standby battery may need replacing - try Maplin for a replacement (Yuasa are a good make). I changed one recently and the battery cost about £30. If you have a multimeter you can check if the existing battery is being charged. Do you have the Engineer Code? You'll need this to remove the cover from the control box, otherwise the tamper alarm will be set off. There's a good website here for security alarm questions (they won't answer anything about resetting codes etc. though):-

    Hope this helps.

Thanks mate, I do have the engineer code so I can have a look.

The flashing has stopped today so I guess it's charged up again, but probably should still be replaced soon.

I'd seen that forum before, but they're not the most helpful bunch, it seems that unless you know what you're doing they won't help, and if you did know you wouldn't need to ask them anyway.

I've seen a number of posts wehre they'll refuse to even quote a section of the manual, it seems they're there mostly to tell people to go to an installer.

If the led is flashing it means that there is a problem with the battery, this may be that the battery needs replacing or possibly that the battery fuse has blown if you have a test meter check that you have a charging voltage on the red and black battery leads if you do then the battery needs replacing.

Hi,as said earlier, check with a multimeter that you have 12volts or above on the battery, the only thing is you need to do a charge test on the battery, you may have 12 volts on the battery but the amperage might be to low.If the battery is a 7aH battery the amperage should be 4.50 volts or above,if it is below this then the battery is gone. You dont say where you are,if you are local to me i could have a look for you.

    Hope this helps.

Could I just check that the type of battery I need to go for is like this?
